Highlighting programs offered by Prince George's County and the State of Maryland to assist residents in protecting the environment, maintaining their homes, and staying healthy.

  • Mental Health information, hotline, and crisis services – 301-429-2185
  • Youth Crisis Hotline – 24 hour hotline answered by trained Crisis Counselors – 1-800-422-0009.
  • Gang Hotline – 24 hour hotline to report gang related activities and if you want to get out of a gang – 1-800-516-1540
  • Dial 711 for Maryland Relay is for anyone who wants to communicate with someone who is deaf, hard-of-hearing, late-deafened, or speech disabled, and who uses a TTY (Text Telephone).
  • Dial 211 for HPRP – Homeless Prevention & Rapid Re-Housing Recovery Program provides assistance for individuals and families.
  • Notify Me Price George's – A service provided to alert registered users during major events and/or local emergencies and deliver the alert to your registered devices, e-mail account, cell phone, or pager. Register at

  • The Homeowners Tax Credit Program – A property tax credit is available to all residential homeowners who have a combined household income under $60,000 and net assets that do not exceed $200,000. For more information, call 1-800-944-7403 or visit:
  • The Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program – Offers financial assistance for the rehabilitation of single family homes. Applicants much have limited financial income to qualify. For information, call 301-833-5570 or visit
  • Revitalization Tax Credit – Targeted Census Tracks, including most neighborhoods inside the Beltway, are eligible for a tax credit on certain construction improvements. For more information, contact Tina Miller-Schaeffer at 301-952-5833 or email
  • Prince George's County Energy Conservation Tax Credit for Homeowners – A tax credit of up to $5,000 for homeowners who install solar or geothermal energy. For details on how to apply, contact Tina Miller-Schaeffer at 301-952-5833.
  • Storm Water Retrofit Rebate Program – For residents, businesses, and nonprofit organizations who install green storm water retrofits on private and public property. Establishes rebates for tree plantings, rain barrels, cisterns, rain gardens, permeable pavers, pavement removal and green roofs. Resources available beginning July 1, 2013.   • The Weatherization Assistance Program – The WAP helps eligible low income elderly (60+) or disabled homeowners and families with children under 5 years old with the installation of energy conservation measures that reduce heat loss and air filtration.   • This Christmas in April Program – Nationwide nonprofit organization, renovates 100 homes in Prince George's County each year at no cost to the homeowner. For information, call 301-868-0937 or visit:
  • The Quick Home Energy Checkup Program – Provided by Pepco, provides free energy efficient showerheads and aerators


  • The Accessible Homes for Seniors Program - Offers zero interest, and deferred loans to seniors. For information, call 301-265-8450 or visit:
  • Department of Family Services/Aging Services Divsion – Provides support for older adults in order to maintain the highest possible quality of life with independence and dignity. Family Services will also assist seniors and their family members with the many challenges of the aging process. For information, call 301-265-8450.


  • Healthline - A toll-free telephone information/referral service for programs that serve the needs of women, children, and families. For more information, call 1-888-561-4049.
  • Epidemiology – HIV counseling and testing and sexually transmitted disease (STD) exams and treatment for any age (parental consent not required). For information, call HIV 301-583-3700 STD 301-583-3150.
  • Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP) – Breast and cervical cancer screening (including mammograms and Pap tests) and diagnosis for breast or cervical cancer for women 40 and over who meet certain criteria. BCCP also provides a monthly breast cancer support group. For information, call 301-856-4730.
  • Care for Kids Program – A partnership with Kaiser Permanente to provide medical services to uninsured residents who cannot afford private insurance. Residents must be under 19 years of age. For information, call 301-883-7858
  • Free Flu Shots – The Prince George's County Health Department offers FREE seasonal Influenza vaccinations to the general public at community clinics when vaccine is available. For information, call 301-883-7802 or visit:
  • The Maryland Primary Adult Care Program – The Maryland Primary Adult Care Program covers primary health care for eligible low income residents. For information, call 1-800-266-2142 or visit:
  • The Medical Assistance Program – The Medical Assistance Program is a comprehensive healthcare program (including hospitalization), funded by state, federal and local governments, and is administered in Prince George's County by the Department of Social Services.   • Free Dental Screening – The Dental Hygiene Program at Fortis College in Landover, MD provides preventative dental hygienic services. For information, call 301-459-3650 ext. 4150 or visit:


  • Food Assistance – The Department of Social Services Emergency Food Assistance Program acts as a clearinghouse for the distribution of donated food. Over 30 local community pantries and shelters currently participate in the program. The donated food is provided to eligible individuals and families free of charge.   • Human Relations Commission – The County's civil rights education and enforcement agency provides residents, businesses and visitors an efficient and cost-effective administrative alternative for investigating, mediating and adjudicating complaints of unlawful discrimination.
